Blog Post 16

In 1861 Benito Juárez (1806-1872) was the president of Mexico. Mexico had
many financial problems. I could not pay the money I had to pay others
countries. He owed a lot of money to three countries: France, Spain, and England.

France, Spain, and England sent naval ships to Veracruz, Mexico to
sue the money. England and Spain spoke and negotiated with the leaders of
Mexico. But the leader of France, Napoleon III saw an opportunity. He saw that he could
convert Mexico to a French empire. He could dominate Mexico.

Napoleon sent a large fleet of ships, weapons, and soldiers to Mexico. The
French people were very prepared and very strong. President Benito Juárez went to
North of Mexico to escape the French soldiers.

The French were not afraid. They thought
That Mexicans would not cause them
many problems. 6,000 troops
French marched to attack the city of Puebla.

In the north, Benito Juárez formed a
Group of 2,000 soldiers. The general
Ignacio Zaragoza was going to be the leader of the
Soldiers. They were not professional soldiers.
They were not ready. But the
Mexicans had a lot of heart and did not
they were afraid. They had to protect the
City of Puebla! Zaragoza and its
Men prepared to defend the city.

The French advanced to the city and stormed from the
north. The battle lasted all day. 500 French soldiers
Died in battle, and only 100 Mexican soldiers
They died the French left the city. The Mexicans celebrated the victory.

The battle of Puebla was not very important historically.
France eventually dominated Mexico. But for Mexico,
was a very symbolic victory. It was a symbol of unity and
Of the patriotism of the people of Mexico.

France dominated Mexico for six years. The French leader
of Mexico was Ferdinand Maximiliano. In 1867, the soldiers of Benito Juárez
captured Maximilian and killed him.

Today, May 5 is not a very important day in
 Mexico. It is not an official holiday. But in the state of
 Puebla, where this victory occurred, there are many fiestas and
 events to observe this day.

In the United States, May 5 is a day
 very popular, especially in areas with
 latin people. It is a celebration of culture
 Mexican There are parties, Mexican food, music
 Mariachi, and the typical dances of Mexico.

Many people think that May 5th is the
Mexico's independence day. But this is incorrect.
Mexico declared its independence from Spain on
September 16, 1810.

All of a sudden, the woman turns red and she leaves running. She's embarrassed and sad. Grabs all her suitcases in the room,she packs super fast and runs from the hotel without saying "goodbye" to Juan or the receptionist. She takes an uber  and escapes in less than 3 minutes. 

She arrives at the airport of Cancun, and in the line to turn in her suitcases, shes finds that she does not have her passport. It's in the room. She yells "oh my gosh!" and starts to cry. She cries a lot. There's an employee from the airline, Delta, that says" I can help you, young lady" The woman stops crying and laughs. The employee verifies her license, no passport, and there's no problem. She doesn't say thank you, she doesn't give a tip. 

The woman  receives her ticket of departure, leaves her suitcases, and walks to security. Takes out her license to identify herself and begins to walk, but the security man says,"Stay here, please". The man tells her that her license is expired! She begins to cry and the man says "Don't cry, please, I can help you." The woman stops crying and begins to laugh. The employee calls the director, and there's no problem. She passes through security, and she's happy. She doesn't say thank you, she doesn't give a tip. 

She looks at the screen and looks for the door to exit, and she buys a sandwich and a drink because she's hungry. All of a sudden , after eating her sandwich, she doesn't feel good. Runs to the bathroom but before arriving she throws up in the center of the walkway with all the other passengers. She's very embarrassed and she turns red.She falls and begins to cry when an employee arrives,he says, "It's fine, young lady, don't cry, I can help." She looks at the man and laughs; she's content. The employees clean the vomit and the woman leaves; she doesn't say thank you, she doesn't give a tip.

Finally she arrives at the door, B4. Everyone already boarded the plane and the woman boards too. She finds her seat and there's a man. He's dressed in a suit very elegant; he's tall and manly, the woman is very content. She laughs, raises her eyebrow, and talks. The two conversate throughout the entire flight, 2 hours, they have positive and good. They eat dinner, drink wine and they laugh. But all of a sudden, the man is not okay. He throws up everywhere, including the woman. She's surprised and begins to cry. He throws up again and runs to the bathroom. The assistant from the airline runs and says, "I can help you young lady" she brings towels and cleans everything; the woman doesn't saying thank you, she doesn't give a tip. 

Very soon, the plane lands and everyone leaves. The woman thinks that the man is still in the bathroom, and waits. She waits 5 minutes- then she goes to the bathroom and begins to knock. She calls the man. He doesn't respond. She opens the door and hes surprised-- the man is not there! The assistant says that the man didn't pay. The woman, covered in vomit, without a passport, without her license, needs to pay the bill for dinner and the wine: $200. She begins to cry.

When the woman arrives at her room she sees that her bags are not there. She gets angry because she needs to wait. The short man arrives in the room with his suitcases. The woman does not tell him thanks and does not give a tip. He is very tired, but he says nothing. The woman has another problem. Now she can not open the door to her room. She does not understands the electronic key, and therefore she shouts: "The stupid key does not work!" Little Juan helps the woman with her key again, the woman does not say thank you and does not give him a tip. The woman does not like the room. She says the bathroom is dirty. The woman looks for the owner everywhere. Look in the restaurant, but she can not find him.In the shops, but can not find him. Look in the pool, but you can not find him. Go to little john. In the pool and yells at him because he is on his way. Finally the woman goes and asks the clerk who says the owner is in the pool.The woman finds that Little Juan is the owner of the elegant hotel.

2. el hostal - Its just like the English word hostel.
3. avion - This one word helps remember plane.
4. acampar - The word camp is in this word.
5. viajar - This short word helps to remember to travel.
6. pescar - I already knew the Spanish word for fish.
7. hacer cola - The two words helps understand to  get in line.
8. abordar - This is easy to remember to aboard because the word is in the definition.
9. el vuelo - I already knew this meant flight.
10. llegar - The short word is easy to remember to arrive.

1. el boleto de ida y vuelta - Its such a long word just for round trip ticket.
2. hacer una caminata - Its no where close to the English words to hike.
3. la parada de autobus - Long translation just for bus stop.
4. la maleta - It doesn't help show the word suitcase.
5. puerta -  Nothing close to the word gate.



Me gusta viajar. También me gusta alojarme en hoteles con piscinas. He estado fuera del país pero también a estados como California.
